Hello and welcome to the UWA Blackstone Society! My name is Henny Smith and I am the President of the Blackstone Society, the law students’ society of UWA.

I can guarantee you that your adventure as a law student at UWA will be all the more rewarding by engaging with the Blackstone Society. It is through the Society’s activities that you will meet and get to know your fellow law students – the people you will study with for five or so years, and perhaps work with for the rest of your life. And it’s through the Society’s activities that you will develop skills you won’t develop by just going to classes, doing your reading and sitting exams.

Whether you’re a girl or guy, undergraduate or graduate student, local or international student, nerdy or too-cool-for-school, the Blackstone Society has an activity for you! We run a raft of legal competitions, produce a range of publications, run a mentor scheme for women in the law, organise a large number of social events and facilitate UWA law students’ participation in an array of sporting activities, amongst other things. I urge you to look through all areas of our website for a comprehensive overview of the Society’s activities. The website will be regularly updated with all of Blackstone’s events and initiatives for 2010, as well as plenty of photos, so be sure to check out its contents throughout the year!
