Two weeks to go and I am now officially a lame duck! The 2014 Blackstone Committee was announced on Friday and I am delighted to announce that Kate Ponting has been elected to the position of President. It was an incredibly tight race between Kate and Rubin, two people that I have had the immense privilege of working with over the course of this year and I know that regardless of the outcome will go on to do other amazing things. I have utmost faith that Kate and the entire 2014 committee will continue to work on the great strides Blackstone has made over the course of the last few years into bigger and better things!
This week is the Allens Stress-Less Week, so I have some advice – stress less. Plain and simple. Make sure you take time to chill out in the coming weeks and ensure you’re fresh and ready to fire as we head into SWOTVAC and exams. To help you out, Blackstone has a week full of initiatives and freebies to help you in this endeavour. Check out the list of events we have planned on the facebook page or on the posters in the law courtyard.
A big thank you to Bella Tole and the social team for their work in putting together the Final Year Dinner, proudly supported by Herbert Smith Freehills last Thursday. Special mention to Binuk for leaving no stone unturned in his speech before leaving the law school. Our social calendar finishes Friday week with End of Year CYS - congratulations to everyone that bought a ticket and helped the event sell out faster than I can care to remember. Lets go out with a bang! Make sure you print your tickets and bring your ID.
Finally, if you have any feedback on the year – good or bad – please leave it here to ensure that it is incorporated into my handover: http://www.blackstone.asn.au/
Until next week,
