What’s up in the Courtyard – Week 5 2013

Hey guys and welcome to week 5!

Only one more week before Easter and Study Break, and I don’t know about you but I am eagerly looking forward to that week off!

You may have noticed that posters have gone up for the Blackstone Society’s Cocktail Party! The night is set to be a stunner, being held at the terrific Canton Lounge with your ticket giving you five exotic cocktails and canapes. If there was ever an event for the year where you are getting your money’s worth – it’s this one! Keep your ear out for when tickets are going on sale and be sure to get in fast, they sold out last year in under two days! See below for more details.

Come down to the ticket selling desk between 12-2pm (Mon-Thurs) to sign-up to the Blackstone Society, or to pick up you membership cards if you haven’t already. In addition, Blackstone is selling Blackstone T-Shirts and Polos from the ticket selling desk next week for $15 each. If you haven’t seen them round the courtyard already, come and have a look – they turned out really well!

As always, don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or any ideas about what you would feel the Blackstone Society should be doing for you this year. Remember my consultation hours are 2-3pm on Tuesdays, so you can visit me at the Blackstone Office during that time as well.

Cheers

Mitch

JD Election Results

Last Monday we held our JD elections and welcomed three new members onto our committee. They are Chris Burch (Education), Simon Croft (Social), and Jessie Poon (Careers). If you have any queries for them please click on their name to send them an email.

Cocktail Party

Blackstone’s Cocktail Party is BACK bigger and better! Being held at the amazing Canton Lounge in the CBD this night will be one not to miss. Your ticket will secure you FIVE COCKTAILS plus canapes for $25 members/$30 non-members. Watch out on Facebook and here for more details. Tickets will be on sale soon!

Sports News

Last Wednesday was the Volleyball fixture, and thanks to a strong effort, Blackstone was narrowly beaten out for the mens title by Sports Science! Our girls put in a huge effort to finish third as well, which means we’re well and truly in the running for the 2013 inter-fac title. There is a bye this week, but when we get back from  study break we need all hands on deck for badminton when we get back. If you’re handy with a racquet, and don’t giggle when you hear the word shuttlecock, it would be great to have you down. Email Chris and Nat at sports@blackstone.asn.au if you’re be keen.

The Gender Agenda

Young UN Women Australia Perth Chapter invites you to The Gender Agenda, a panel discussion on the role of men in the gender equality movement. The panel discussion will be followed by a networking session with drinks and canapés. It’s on Thursday April 11 at 5:45pm at the Herbert Smith Freehills offices in QV1. Tickets are $20 (members) and $25 (non-members) and available from http://www.trybooking.com/CPMP. All ticket revenue goes straight into UN Women Australia’s current campaign.
