obtain a work experience placement commencing in March 2012. This is a great opportunity
for an ambitious future solicitor to get their foot in the door, develop their legal skills and
gain an insight into a career in law. Ideal applicants will be available to work for at least two
days per week.

Applicants are expected to demonstrate initiative, excellent written and communication
skills, and a high attention to detail. Applicants must also be reliable, and be prepared to
work diligently in a professional team environment. Successful applicants will be delegated
to work with the firm’s heads of department on important matters, and are likely to be
exposed to at least two areas of law during their placement. Aspects of this work will
include legal research, letter writing, drafting, and administrative support.

We seek a law student who has completed at least first year of a Bachelor of Laws.  Employment will be on a casual basis for approximately 15 – 18 hrs over 2 – 2.5 days per week, commencing early May 2011.  We are reasonably flexible in terms of hours, although we do not start work before 10am, and we very rarely work after 6pm.

We are looking for a reliable motivated person who has good computer and interpersonal skills, attention to detail and likes working in a quiet environment.

We offer the opportunity to develop your legal skills and knowledge base by working on actual cases, and participate in our continuing professional development training.  You need good research skills, as we often do work which requires technical research.

If you are the right person, we would like you to stay with us until you complete your law degree (at least).  We hired two articled clerks this year, and both had been long term casuals with us.

We offer an excellent hourly rate.  We do not expect you to work for us during your university exam periods.   The firm is friendly and we expect a high quality of work from you.
