Law Access Ltd is WA’s pro bono referral centre. Our purpose is to assist individuals and not-for–profit organisations who cannot afford legal services and cannot be assisted by Legal Aid WA or a community legal centre by referring them for pro bono assistance from a member of the WA legal profession. We have a small dynamic office located at the UWA Law School, which is staffed by core employees, secondees and student volunteers. We help people with almost all areas of the law including family, migration (asylum seekers), crime and litigation.
Law Access is seeking expressions of interest from final year and post-graduate UWA law students who would like to volunteer their time.
By volunteering at Law Access: · You will gain experience in working in a law office and exposure to many areas of the law; · You will give practical assistance to the most vulnerable members of society find the legal assistance they need; and · You will develop your legal skills
You will ideally be able to commit to a set day of the week (as suits you) on a regular basis for a semester. A full day is preferable, although half days are also considered.
