ALSA Conference 2010
The Blackstone Society ALSA Delegation is seeking interested students for 2010!
The first ever national meeting of law students from across Australia was held in 1979. Since then, the annual ALSA Conference has become an institution on the Australian legal calendar. It is Australia’s largest gathering of law students, and comprises the best educational, competitive and social events in the country.
This year, the 32nd ALSA Conference will be held in Adelaide from Monday 12 July until Sunday 18 July 2010.
So – how can you attend the party of the year? Either as a competitor or as a general delegate. The ALSA Conference holds competitions in:
- Open Mooting;
- IHL Mooting;
- Witness Examination (ie Trial Advocacy);
- Negotiation;
- Client Interview; and
- Student Paper Presentation.
Competitors will be selected from those who performed outstandingly in the corresponding Blackstone competitions, according to Blackstone’s ALSA Selection Policy. If you are interested in being a competitor, please contact Joey Leith and Jessie Smith, Competitions Officers (competitions@blackstone.asn.au) Competitors representing Blackstone at ALSA will have registration and airfares paid for by Blackstone. So be sure to enter a Blackstone competition in 2010!
If you are not selected as a competitor for one of the national competitions, we would strongly encourage you to come along as a general delegate and be a part of the Blackstone delegation. With a massive program of events planned for the Conference, it’s a great way to get to know some of your UWA students better, meet other law students from all around Australia and New Zealand, and attend a week-long party with 400 law students taking over Adelaide.
Activities for the general delegates include:
- Pub Crawls;
- Amazing Race Adelaide;
- Winery and Brewery Tours;
- Incredible lecturers;
- Quiz Nights;
- Battle of the Bands comps;
- …and all the Gala dinners and cocktails parties of the conference!
More details on the 2010 ALSA Conference will be posted in due course.
