JD RESTRUCTURE

Studying in the JD? If so, you will have received an email from Faculty outlining a revised structure of the Juris Doctor, effective 2017. This is a major restructure which will affect all current 1st and 2nd year JD’s, as well as any students who are studying part-time/extending their degree over three years.

Blackstone will be engaging closing with faculty on what is an important issue for all students.

A summary of the changes are as follows (please read the email for more detail):

  1. Legal Process, Dispute Resolution and Commercial Practice will become 2-week intensive units taught at the start of semester 1 in 1st, 2nd and 3rd year respectively.
  2. Other JD core units, and first semester option units will be taught from week 3, with contact hours (per unit per week) increasing.
  3. Administrative Law will now be a 2nd year Semester 2 non-intensive core unit.

We recognise that some of you will have many questions and concerns about the revised structure. As the student society that represents your interests, know that we are currently seeking more information and will do all we can to ensure that more information is provided to students as quickly as possible. Please read the email from Faculty, and put the Information Session (1pm, April 5, Law Lecture Theatre) in your calendars.
