Law/Med Show

Yeah we got cocky and decided to double the awesomeness but teaming up with Med. This is an event that sees both Law and Med students essentially having a ‘party-off’ at an awesome* club of some sort. Med usually wins with their insane partying so I think it’s time we showed them up. Buy a ticket and help us show them how it’s done!

*The use of the word awesome in this context is a relative term seeing as Perth has no clubs that actually deserve to be called awesome in any way, shape or form. Blackstone has not intended to create false or misleading representations through the use of this particular adjective.

Blackstone Law Ball

Law Ball – its Blackstone’s mother of social events. It regularly draws crowds of 600-700 law students for a night of food, wine, dancing and frolicking around in our brand new dresses (girls) or our staple dinner tuxedos (boys). It is by far Blackstone’s most extravagant, jaw-dropping, show-stopping, eye-popping and toe-tapping event. Planning is already underway for the 2010 Law Ball, which we hope will be the most memorable ball yet! This is one event where tickets sell out fast so make sure you get in early!

Women in the Law Breakfast

The epitome of the Equity portfolio, packed with keynote female speakers who have played an influential role in the legal industry.

Quiz Night

This is the night where we test you all to see how hard you have been listening and studying your law units throughout the year, so make sure you’re up to date before you come down! I kid, I kid, it’s really a night of drinks, laughing, ridiculous questions, ridiculous answers, bickering amongst tables and general witty (or not) banter.

Grad Drinks Night

Are you old? Do you refuse to call yourself old but are admittedly ‘older’ than your peers? This doesn’t mean you have to feel ostracised because Blackstone has the annual Grad Drinks Night. Its allows you to mingle and/or catch up with fellow Grad students in a more mature environment which means you don’t have to get boozy in the courtyard fountain to meet people and enjoy your time at Law School!

Sports Dinner

Sports dinner probably conjures up images of athletic jocks drinking out of red cups and doing push-ups at the dinner table right? Yeah sorry, we’re law students, the geeks of high school. We eat dinner at Hans and drink a goon-infused orange substance. Its brilliant nonetheless so make sure you come down – and no, it doesn’t matter that you have never participated in Blackstone sports, just come down to party!

Prez’s Keg

By now a year of Blackstone parties, competitions and sports have impressed you so much that you want to be on next year’s committee! No? That’s ok you can come down to the Prez’s keg party anyway and hear who gets elected to represent you. It’s a casual fun event and most people have downed a few too many drinks to even remember who got elected. Essentially, Prez’s keg is code word for party. Yeah I know, Blackstone has a lot of those.

Final Year Dinner

The Blackstone Society Final Year Dinner is always a memorable evening for final year students in the Law School. It is held at the end of the university year as a celebration and send-off for all students completing their last year of undergraduate law. In 2009, Blackstone was most fortunate to invite His Honour Chief Justice Robert French of the High Court as the keynote speaker for this event. This event is not to be missed for all those graduating in 2010!
