Clayton Utz Client Interview Competition
The Client Interview Competition provides students with the opportunity to develop practical skills important in the legal profession. Such relevant skills practised included building rapport with clients, active listening and practical problem solving.
The competition simulates the first meeting between a client and two lawyers who have received a short memorandum beforehand. The focus of the competition is the identification of the client’s problem, eliciting relevant facts, handling their interests and suggesting an appropriate structured solution.
No knowledge of the substantive law is required and only limited pre-interview preparation is necessary. This competition is conducted over knockout rounds, held on weeknights at UWA.
