Blackstone is the official law students' society at the University of Western Australia and endeavours to promote the educational and social interests of all students within the UWA Law School. From educational through to social, Blackstone has something for anyone wanting the complete university experience!
Blackstone is now calling for students’ responses, perspectives and opinions on units they have undertaken in the Semester Two teaching period. Information gathered is completely anonymous and will assist students decide which units to select in the future via Blackstone’s Alternative Faculty Handbook.

It’s that time of the year again – nominations are now open for Blackstone Society’s committee for 2010!
Nomination forms can be picked up from the perspex holder near the vending machine in the Blackstone Common Room.
Nominations will close on September 25, 2009. If you’re passionate about making a difference within the law school and representing the law student body, be sure to apply!
The annual Sports Dinner will be held this year at Hans in Northbridge at 7pm, the 15th of October.
More information regarding this event will be released in due course.

Hi all,
Just a quick update regarding sporting events going on this week!
The UEC Rugby Grudge Match will be taking place this Friday at 12.45pm. People interesting in spectating or playing must meet in the courtyard by 12pm to leave at 12.15pm.
There will also be girls AFL football and a tug of war comeptition!
The event should be finished by 2.30pm. Come on down to help the law faculty smash the engineers!

The Final Year Dinner will be held this year at the Sheraton Hotel on Thursday, the 22nd of October at 7.00pm.
Tickets are $65 for members, $70 for non-members. Tickets may be purchased between 12-2pm Monday to Friday outside the Blackstone Common Room.

First Year Mooting – 21st of September at Corrs Chambers Westgarth in the Perth CBD.
Negotiation & Mediation – 29th of September
IHL Mooting – 30th September at the Federal Court.
Competitions Dinner has also been scheduled for the 8th of October – more information will be released about this in due course!

The annual 2nd and 3rd year dinner will be taking place on Wednesday, the 23rd of September at Maya Masala in the CBD. The event will begin at 7.00pm.

Dinner includes a 3-course meal and all you can drink – definitely worth it!

Each year the Western Australian law schools get together and battle it out in a humorous contest of mental ability.
This year, Academic Challenge will be taking place at the Cottesloe Hotel from 6.30pm on Thursday the 17th of September.
Come on down for an entertaining night!
Law Week is upon us again! That means it’s time for some heated inter-varsity legal competitions!
Upcoming is the Law Week moot, happening this Wednesday, the 16th of September at the E-Moot court in the Law School Courtyard. Start time is 7pm sharp.
The question for this year’s moot is quite interesting so it should be an all-round interesting and engaging clash of the legal titans!

Quick update regarding the competitions. Recently, a new competition called the ‘Civic Legal Memo Writing Competition’ has been added under the Competitions tab (Education > Competitions) – check it out if you’re interested! Competition materials have also been added for your viewing pleasure.

This semester’s annual Blackstone Society Grad Mingle, proudly sponsored by Mallesons, brings UWA Law’s Graduate Students together again for a night of drinks, food and good conversation. The event will start promptly at 7.00pm on 1 October 2009, and will be held at Terraza Cafe & Restaurant in Nedlands.
Ticket prices are $20.00 for members, and $30.00 for non-members, and may be purchased from Monday the 21st of August, between 12.00 -2.00pm in the Law Court Yard.
